Hum by Verizon - Mobile App - Add / Remove Family Members

Here's how to add and remove Family Members from your Hum account using the web portal.
  • Account Holders can't invite other existing Hum customers of any tier (e.g., Basic) or customers that have already joined another family to be a part of their family group.
  • Family Members have access to all features that pertain to the vehicles they've been assigned to view (e.g., Wi-Fi feature and Number Share features, in addition to all other features).
  • Once added, Family Members can't:
    • invite other family members to join or edit another Family Member's permissions.
    • perform a proactive change of vehicle in the mobile app.
    • change billing / account info or edit Emergency Contact info.

Hum Basic (free) customers don't have access to invite Family Members.
  1. Open the Hum app.
  2. Navigate:
    Menu icon Menu icon
    My Account
    Family Members
    .
  3. Tap
    Invite family members
    .
  4. From the 'Add Family Members' screen, tap
    Invite Family Members
    again.
  5. To allow Hum to access your contacts, tap
    OK
    .
    If 'Don't Allow' is selected, Family Member info must be filled out manually.
  6. Select the contact to be added then tap
    Add
    .
  7. If prompted, from the 'Invite A Family Member' screen, enter the following info:
    • First and Last name.
    • Email address.
      The email address or phone number provided can't be associated with another Hum account.
    • Mobile Number.
  8. Tap the switch to the right of the corresponding vehicle to be shared.
    A vehicle must be selected in order to send an invite.
  9. Tap
    Send Invitation
    .
  10. To continue, review the Vehicle Sharing message then tap

  11. From the 'Invitation Has Been Sent Successfully!' screen, tap
    Manage Family Members
    to show invitation status or add another family member.
  • Invited Family Members receive a text or email inviting them to join their Hum family.
  • The Hum mobile app is required to complete setup.
  1. Open the Hum mobile app.
  2. Tap
    Get Started
    .
  3. From the 'Welcome to Hum' screen, enter your email address.
    The email address must match the address where the invitation was sent.
    If the correct email is used, the 'Family Invitation' screen appears.
  4. From the 'Family Invitation' screen, tap
    Continue
    .
  5. From the 'Secure Your Account' screen, create a password using the required criteria then tap

    Once a password is created, a verification email is sent to the email provided.
    Password must be a minimum length 8 characters; maximum length 24 characters and have 3 out of 4 of the following characters:
    • Lowercase
    • Uppercase
    • Number
    • Special Character
  6. From the 'Check Your Inbox' screen tap
    Open Email
    to locate the email and click the link to verifiy your account.
    Completing verification directs you back to the Hum mobile app to complete setup.
  7. To Continue, review the Hum Terms of Service then tap
    I Agree
    .
  8. If prompted to allow Hum access your vehicle's location, tap
    Always Allow
    .
  9. If prompted to allow Hum access to your Motion & Fitness activity, tap the preferred option:
    • Don't allow
    • OK.
  10. If prompted to allow notifications, tap the preferred option:
    • Don't allow
    • OK
  11. From the Hum dashboard, view the available features associated with the shared vehicle as assigned by the Account Holder.

Family Members can be removed by the Primary Account Holder or they can remove themselves.
  1. Open the Hum mobile app.
  2. Tap the
    Menu icon
    Menu icon (upper-left).
  3. Tap
    My Account
    .
  4. Tap
    Family Members
    .
    • Primary Account Holder removing a Family Member:
      1. Tap the Family Member to be removed.
      2. Tap
        Remove This Family Member
        (at the bottom).
    • Family Member removing themselves:
      Tap
      Leave Family Group
      (at the bottom).
