Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.4 inch) - Customize Your Home Screen

Personalizing the Home screen on your Galaxy Tab A (8.4 inch) makes daily tasks easier. Add, remove, or arrange apps, use widgets, or set a wallpaper that matches your style.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access the apps screen.
  2. Touch and hold an app.
  3. Drag the shortcut onto the preferred Home screen then release.
    For the app to be successfully added, there must be enough space within the selected Home screen. If needed, more Home screen panels may be added.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Widgets
    .
  3. Tap a widget.
    Some widgets offer different size options. If no additional options are available, skip to the next step.
  4. Tap
    Add
    .
  5. Touch and hold the desired widget.
  6. Drag the widget onto the preferred Home screen then release.
    For the widget to be successfully added, there must be enough space within the selected Home screen. If needed, more Home screen panels may be added.
  7. If applicable, tap additional options to activate the widget.
    Options vary depending on the type of widget.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold the item (e.g., widgets, shortcuts, folders, etc.).
  2. When the pop-up bubble appears, release the icon then tap
    Remove
    .
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a shortcut (e.g. Email).
  2. Drag the shortcut onto another shortcut (e.g., Calendar) then release.
    A folder containing the shortcuts is created (titled Unnamed Folder). To rename the folder:
    1. Tap
      Folder Name
      at the top of the unnamed folder.
    2. Enter a name for the folder then tap
      Done
      .
    To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a blank area.
  2. Tap
    Wallpapers
    .
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To use an existing wallpaper image:
      1. Tap
        My wallpapers
        then select a wallpaper image from the list.
      2. Tap the preferred option (e.g., Home screen, Lock screen, etc.).
      3. Tap
        Set on screen
        .
    • To use an image from your gallery:
      1. Tap
        Gallery
        .
      2. Navigate to the preferred image then tap a photo to select.
      3. Tap an option (e.g., Home screen, Lock screen, etc.).
      4. Locate then select the preferred picture.
      5. Tap
        Set on screen
        .
