Here's how to set up, change or disable the screen lock option (e.g., password, pattern, etc.) for your Galaxy Tab A (8.4 inch).

Open the

Settings app

Navigate:

Lock screen

Screen lock type

If presented, enter the current PIN, password or pattern.

Do one of the following:

Set up Pattern

Tap

Pattern

Draw an unlock pattern that connects at least 4 dots then tap

Continue

Draw the same pattern again then tap

Confirm

Set up PIN

Tap

Enter a numeric PIN that's 4 to 16 digits then tap

Continue

Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap

Set up Password

Tap

Password

Enter a password that's 4 to 16 characters and includes at least one letter then tap

Continue

Re-enter the password then tap

Disable Screen Lock

Tap 'Swipe' or 'None'.

Tap

Remove Data

Tap

Remove

to confirm.
