Google Pixel 4a - Customize Your Home Screen

Personalizing the Home screen on your Pixel 4a makes daily tasks easier. Add, remove, or arrange apps, use widgets, or set a wallpaper that matches your style.

  1. From the Apps screen, touch and hold an app.
  2. Drag and drop the shortcut to the preferred Home screen.
    For the app to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space within the selected Home screen. If needed, more Home screen panels may be added.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Widgets
    .
  3. Tap the desired app then touch and hold a widget.
  4. Drag the widget to the preferred Home screen then release.
    For the widget to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space on the screen. If needed, more Home screen panels may be added.
  5. If applicable, tap additional options to activate the widget.
    Options vary depending upon the type of widget.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an app (e.g., Email, My Verizon, etc.).
  2. Drag the app on to another app (e.g., Gmail, Call Filter, etc.) then release it.
    A folder containing the shortcuts is created (titled Unnamed Folder). To rename the folder:
    1. Tap the folder.
    2. Tap the
      Title bar
      (bottom of the open folder).
    3. Enter a name then tap the
      Done icon
      Done icon.
    To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold the item (e.g., widget, apps, etc.).
  2. Drag the item to 'Remove' (at the top) then release.
  1. Touch and hold a blank space on a Home screen.
  2. Tap
    Wallpaper & style
    .
    If prompted with permissions, tap
    ALLOW
    .
  3. Tap
    Change wallpaper
    then select the desired wallpaper category from the available folders (e.g., My photos, Landscapes, etc.).
  4. Select an image then tap
    Set Wallpaper
    .
  5. Tap the
    Checkmark icon
    then select from the following option to set wallpaper:
    • Lock screen
    • Home screen and lock screen
