Download and Activate an eSIM

With an eSIM, your phone number and plan are installed digitally onto your Apple® iPad® instead of using a physical SIM card. Downloading an eSIM profile is the first step in getting connected to the Verizon network.

Before you begin

If you would like to sign up for Verizon service, refer to Join Verizon.
iPads purchased directly from Apple are always unlocked. For iPads purchased from another carrier, refer to the lock policies for AT&T or T-Mobile.
Applies to iPad Pro (2021) and newer models that ship without a physical SIM card and iPad (7th generation and 8th generation) activated on a business account.
Verify your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. The eSIM won't activate if you're outside of the Verizon wireless coverage area. Ensure you activate the eSIM before traveling abroad.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
    Once your eSIM activation has been processed, a notification icon appears on your Settings icon.
  2. Tap the
    Set Up Cellular banner
     then tap
    Continue
    .
    If unavailable, tap the
    Verizon Cellular Plan Ready to be Installed
     then tap
    Continue
    .
    Once you tap Continue, the eSIM activation begins and the services are enabled.
