Hum by Verizon - Device Not Responsive
Here's how to test your Hum device if it's not reporting or responding.
The vehicle should be off when re-seating the device.
The Hum device doesn't have an internal battery and is powered by the vehicle. If the device isn't responding or reporting, perform the steps below.
- To reset the Hum device, remove it from the OBD II port and wait one minute.
- Plug the device back in then turn the vehicle on to initiate a key-on event (driving is not required). While unplugged, check for physical damage such as bent pins inside the plug, openings in the casing, and signs of water damage. If damaged, the device will need to replaced.
- If the device doesn't beep, plug the device into another vehicle to test the beep again.
- If the device doesn't beep after testing in multiple vehicles, the device needs to be replaced.
- If the device beeps in one vehicle and not the other, have the OBD II port checked by a mechanic as this may indicate the OBD reader isn't working correctly.
