Before you begin
If there are no lights on the router, this could indicate physical damage to the device or the power adapter.
Check the Power Cord
- Test for a loose connection by plugging the cord into the router and a power outlet. The connection should be secure.
- If the connection feels loose or wobbly in either the router or the outlet, the cord or the port may be damaged.
- Inspect the entire length of the power cord for any tears, cuts or nicks in the outer installation.
- Look for areas that are frayed or have exposed wires.
- Look at the prongs on the plug as they should be straight and undamaged.
Check the Router
- Look for external damage.
- Carefully examine the router's casing for cracks, dents or other signs of impact.
- Feel for overheating. While it is normal for the router to be slightly warm, if it's hot to the touch it could be an indication of physical damage.
Replacement Options
- If damage is found several replacement options may be available.
