Activate your moto g play - 2026 to get started. This ensures you can make calls, send messages and connect to the internet.

Before you begin

Make sure there's a 5G SIM card inserted into the device before powering on.

Steps

  1. Press and hold the
    Power button
     until the device begins to power on. Select your language then tap
    Start
    .
  2. Confirm the correct phone number displays then tap
    Next
    .
  3. To set up using a previous device, tap
    Android device
     or
    iPhone® or iPad®
     to continue
  4. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  5. Turn privacy and security features on or off then tap
    Accept & continue
    .
  6. Sign in to your Google™ account or create a new one.
  7. Select a user type then tap
    Next
    .
  8. Follow the onscreen prompts to review and accept the Google terms of service.
  9. Set up a screen lock and face or fingerprint recognition to secure your device.
  10. To copy apps and data, tap
    Next
     to transfer your content or tap
    Do it later
    .
  11. Review and set up additional Google features (e.g., Location, Gemini, etc.).
  12. To allow Verizon Services to collect Location and App info, tap
    Accept
    .
  13. Tap
    Next
     to add additional storage with Verizon Cloud.
  14. Tap
    Accept
     to secure your device using Verizon Protect.
  15. Add your email to allow Motorola to communicate with you then tap
    Next
    .
  16. Complete any remaining steps to set up apps and other device features then tap
    Got it
     to complete setup.
