Advanced Settings

Configuring advanced settings (e.g., networks, manual DNS, etc.) on your MiFi® PRO M4 allows you to optimize performance, internet speed and connection reliability.

Before you begin

Changing advanced settings may be harmful to the stability, performance, and security of your device. Contact your local IT admin before changing any of these settings.
For info regarding APN settings, refer to Edit Access Point Name (APN).
Domain Name Server (DNS) settings are automatically assigned by the device. If turning on manual DNS is necessary, contact your local IT admin for assistance.
When an OpenVPN tunnel is established, all connected device traffic is sent through the tunnel and settings such as Port Forwarding and Port Forwarding don't apply.

Networks

  1. From the left menu, click
    Network
    .
  2. From the Cellular Network Technology section, click the
    Network Technology dropdown
    to manually choose a network.
    Ensure 'Enable automatic network selection' is turned off.
    Auto is the preferred setting.
  3. From the Cellular Settings section, click the following to turn on or off.
    • Allow device to connect to the mobile network while roaming
    • Enable automatic network selection
  4. Click
    Save
    .

Manual DNS

  1. From the left menu, click
    Network
    .
  2. Click the
    DNS tab
    .
  3. Click
    Turn on Manual DNS
    to turn on or off.
  4. From the DNS 1 IP address and DNS 2 IP address fields, enter the applicable info.
  5. Click
    Save
    .

LAN

  1. From the left menu, click
    Network
    .
  2. Click the
    LAN tab
    .
  3. From the IPv4 section, click
    Turn on DHCP
    to turn on or off.
  4. Enter the desired info into the following fields:
    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • DHCP lease time
    • DHCP Address Range (Start):
    • DHCP Address Range (End):
  5. Click
    Save
    .

VPN

  1. From the left menu, click
    Security
    .
  2. Click the
    Firewall tab
    .
  3. Click the
    VPN Passthrough switch
    to turn on or off.
