Software Upgrade Assistant (Samsung) - Initial Setup

Here's how to install the Samsung Upgrade Assistant on your computer/PC or Mac.
  • This shows you how to install the Samsung Upgrade Assistant on your computer to use if the Over the Air software upgrade fails.
  • If the update fails to install, please refer to the Software Repair Assistant for further assistance.
Ensure the following system requirements are met prior to installation of the Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA):
  • Windows® XP (SP1, SP2 or SP3), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, MAC® OS 10.6 and later versions.
    The Macintosh version of the Software Update Assistant is supported for most Samsung Smartphones and tablets.
  • PIII 1000 MHz CPU or higher
  • 512 MB of RAM or more
  • At least 3 GB of available hard drive space
  • VGA 1024x768 or higher
  • USB cable
  • High-speed internet connection
  • The most recent software version becomes available on the SUA/SRA tool within a week of a new software update. During this time, the SUA/SRA may be unavailable.

  1. Ensure the wireless device is powered on then connect it to a compatible computer using the supplied USB cable.

  2. Once connected via USB cable, an Autoplay pop up should open automatically on the computer.
    If the device is not recognized immediately, pull down the notification panel on the phone to switch the device mode from 'Charge Only' to 'File Transfer' or 'Software Installation' mode.
    For those devices without the 'File Transfer' option (e.g., Galaxy S7, etc.), tap 'Connected for charging: touch for other USB options' then tap 'Transferring Media Files'.
    If the software doesn't download from your device after plugging into your computer, download from Samsung's website then click

  3. From the AutoPlay pop up window, click
    Verizon_EUT_Installer.zip
    .
    If the AutoPlay pop up window is not available:
    • For Windows XP and 7, right-click on the
      Start menu icon
      then click
      Open Windows Explorer
      . Click on the computer name then click
      CD Drive: Verizon Mobile
      .
    • For Windows 8 and 10, right-click on the
      Start menu icon
      then click
      File Explorer
      . Look under 'Devices and drives' and click
      CD Drive: Verizon Mobile
      .
  4. When prompted that Software is available for your device, click
    Yes/Install now
    .
    If prompted with 'User Account Control' screen(s), click
    Yes
    to continue.
  5. From the Welcome screen click
    Next

  6. Browse to the desired installation destination then click
    Next

  7. The installation process begins.

  8. When the installation complete, click
    Finish

    Click Finish
  9. If needed, click the
    Software Upgrade Assistant tray icon
    to launch the Software Upgrade Assistant.
    If the SUA tray icon isn't visible in the system tray, click the
    Show hidden icons arrow
    Show Hidden Icons located in the system tray to reveal additional program icons.
    Click the SUA-SRA tray to launch the Software Upgrade Assistant
  1. Ensure the wireless device is powered on then connect it to a compatible computer using the supplied USB cable.

    • Hard disks
    • External disks
    • CDs, DVDs, and iPods

  4. Launch the

  6. When prompted that software is available, click
