 Changing the Actiontec GT704WG gateway to Bridge Mode

In order to use third-party routers with your Actiontec GT704WG gateway, you must first change your Actiontec gateway to Bridge mode.

Note: The setup screens may vary slightly from the ones included below, depending on when you purchased your Actiontec gateway and the firmware running on it.

To change your Actiontec gateway to Bridge mode:

  1. Enter in your browser’s address bar. 

  2. Gateway URL

  3. When prompted, enter your Actiontec router user name and password. [Show Me]
    • Note: The default User Name is admin and password is password

  4. From the main menu, click  Advanced Setup. [Show Me]

  5. Click WAN IP Address. [Show Me]
  6. When the warning displays about the possibility of some of the gateway settings being reset, click Yes. [Show Me]
  7. Select DHCP in Step 1.
  8. WAN IP Address

  9. Scroll to the bottom of the window and click Apply
  10. Please wait

  11. The Actiontec will apply the settings and will be in bridge mode. Close the Actiontec gateway configuration window.
  12. The last step before you're ready to connect your third-party router is to terminate any active TCP/IP connections on your network.
