I am a Never Smartphone kind of person, but this truly lousy phone has made me consider the thought of switching over a few times. This was the replacement phone sent to me when my old 3G flip phone was being made obsolete by the network upgrades. It has been the worst technological DOWNGRADE I have ever had. On my old flip phone, I could text T9 style rather quickly. On this one, texting requires a sequence of press-PAUSE-press-PAUSE-etc. and if I go too quickly, it leaves out letters and inserts a random word I didn't want. Does not automatically suggest the pronoun "I" but requires tedious methods to capitalize, etc., etc. Moreover, the physical quality of the phone is lousy. The rubbery gray coating bubbles up and peels off. Any little drop and something breaks. After losing a couple plastic corners, today the two halves broke apart entirely and is dangling by a wire. Time for a replacement . . . not buying a smartphone, but I want anything but this terrible eTalk!

I got this phone September it crack in November, phone under warranty and was told by Verizon I could not get a replacement. I did not drop it, wet it or damage ii. The phone froze I open the back remove and replace the battery to get phone working. I notice a crack and a couple days later it broke. I cannot get a replacement because when I send it back they will notice the crack and I said why lie it is broke and I did not do it. If I want another phone will have to pay for it. 25 years ago there were very few cell phone companies and at this age change is hard but necessary.

Not terrible, as flip phones go.

Phone is slow, but very quick to call the wrong contact... Has certain stupidities, such as now, Wednesdays in September, you won't know what time a call was placed/received/missed, as the date is too long. Battery life is decent. My volume buttons no longer work, unless pressed with pressure in specific spots.

better as a downgrade

If verizon hadn't shut down their 3G network I never would have made this purchase. It's larger than you'd expect and doesn't fit easily in your pocket, the menu is not intuitive, there are way more features than the older 3G phones so to call this one basic is stretching it. It's probably more appropriate for someone downgrading from a smart phone but it's not great for someone who's looking to simply replace the 3G models.

My Mom and Dad's Phones, Not Mine

3 out of 5 rating

JamieG . 2 years ago

My 83 year old Mom and Dad each received one of these phones after the 3g shutdown. They don't text, use email, take pictures nor use the Internet. They use their phones strictly for phone calls. Mom used to use her computer for email and Internet but dementia is kicking in and she no longer quite understands it. When they received these phones at the end of 2022, Dad was ok with the new phone. The only problem he still has with it is PUSHING THE RED BUTTON to hang it up. On his old phone, all he had to do was close it and it would disconnect. Other than that there's no problem. The phone works fine for what he needs it for. Mom, on the other hand, did NOT like her phone and I'm pretty sure she threw it away within the first couple days of receiving it. I came over to check on them and I couldn't find her phone but I did find her OLD 3g phone out of the box I packed it in, sitting by her recliner. Still, to this day, we haven't been able to find that phone. After a year of her using my Dad's phone and getting used to it, I went to Verizon and got her another one. I also purchased little "locators" from Amazon which I placed on the back of her phone just in case she sets it down somewhere. There's a remote in the living room and all we have to do is push the corresponding color and it will activate the tracker on the back of her phone. My review of this phone? Activating this phone was a pain. There's no way either of my parents would have been able to do it on their own. There's NO WAY either of my parents could add contacts to this phone. It took me a few to figure it out myself as I'm not familiar with flip phones (I know this phone now!). Would I recommend this phone? This is not a phone I would get for myself. It's a good phone for my parents and their needs. It serves the purpose of making and receiving calls. However, I did have to set the phones up for them. They would NOT have been able to do it on their own.

Worst phone I've ever had.

This phone is VERY glitchy, slow, and difficult to use. It is NOT user-friendly. Do NOT get this phone. - Texting on this phone is a Very difficult. The keys double click often and I have to sometimes go around 2, 3, 4 times to get to the letter I want because it also skips letters at times. I've never had such an issue texting with any other phone. I've used many others the last 20 years and this is by far the WORST basic phone I've ever used (I wasn't asked if I wanted this phone, it was just sent to me when my old phone was deactivated without my permission). Scrolling up to look at older messages is a nuisance; it's slow to respond and when trying to lock an old msg it usually doesn't lock the one that's actually highlighted. It also has No time stamp on any msg from before the present day, only the date. When sending a text the phone won't allow me to view previous texts until the one just sent goes through. It also takes a long time to scroll up to view past msgs. - Notes don't save properly; I have to resave every time I view one, and if I click to back out, it deletes every thing I wrote. - The camera quality is ok for what it is, but it doesn't allow any editing (I can only crop a picture within an unchanging square). It also doesn't let me crop contact photos properly. The quality of this phone is the WORST I've ever had. I'm gettin a new phone this week.
