Google Pixel 8 Pro Software Update
Verizon is pleased to announce a software update for your device. This software update has been tested to help optimize device performance, resolve known issues, apply the latest security patches and, when available, deliver new features.
Before you download:
- Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, or make sure it has a strong Verizon wireless network connection.
- Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.

What's changing:
The current software update introduces Android OS 17, new features, performance improvements and the most up to date security patches for your device.
Screen reactions
This feature captures both the device's screen and selfie camera feed simultaneously. Enable the "Selfie + audio mode" in Quick Settings to record reactions while interacting with apps. Requires Android 17. Does not support front camera zooming.
Supported devices: Google Pixel 6 and newer.

Lyria 3 in Gemini
Lyria is a state of the art music generation model launching within the Gemini app that will allow you to create music tracks with text prompts and/or images.
- Text to Music: Express yourself in a whole new way. Whether it's for a special occasion or a funny inside joke, let Gemini turn your ideas into a personalized track that you can share with others.
- Photo to music: Give your photos a custom soundtrack that captures the vibe perfectly. Upload a photo and watch Gemini analyze the scene to compose a track with lyrics that fits the feeling perfectly.
Go to Gemini app > Select Creating music from the tools menu
Supported devices: Pixel 6 and newer. All Pixel devices with the Gemini app, no subscription required.

Bubbles
You can turn any app into a bubble for quick interactions or for focused multi-app workflows. Bubble Bar is a new UI to organize, move, and quickly access recent bubbles on large screens.
Bubble an app by dragging from Taskbar or through Launcher long press menu. Bubbles are accessible through either floating or Bubble Bar UI. Up to five bubbles at a time.
Supported devices:
- Bubble Anything available on all A17 Pixel phones and folds.
- Bubble Bar on all A17 Pixel folds; tablets have Bubble Bar only.

Voice Translate expands to Pixel 10a
Uses speech-to-speech translation tools to translate what you're saying on a phone call into another language, with a voice dubbed to sound like your voice.
To get started, go to the Phone by Google app > Settings > Voice Translate
Simply download each language model individually and select your preferred language.
Supported devices: Pixel 10a. Currently on Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
Language: Pixel 10 lineup except Pixel 10a - English to Spanish, German, Japanese, Italian, French, Portuguese, Swedish, Russian, Indonesian and Hindi.

Manual Call Screen expansion
When you receive an incoming call, you can screen the call instead of answering or declining. Call Assist answers the call and asks the caller who they are and why they are calling. You will see a live text transcript of what the caller is saying on your screen. Once the caller responds and you see the transcript, you can choose several actions: Pick up, Hang up, Suggested Responses.
Supported devices: Pixel 10 and newer.

Conversational editing
Editing photos just got a whole lot easier. Simply tell Google Photos what you want to change, like "Can you fix the lighting in this picture?", and Google Photos will do the rest.
Now, you can naturally tell Google Photos what you want to see changed in your picture. Simply voice or type what you need in the conversational bar under Google Photo > Select a Photo > Edit
Supported devices: All Android devices.

Magic Cue expansion
Magic Cue is live in Google Message and LINE apps and now expanding to more apps: WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, FaceBook Messenger, Instagram Messenger, Snapchat, Google Chat.
Suggestions will appear within Notifications, Gboard, and Cue bar with the following caveats:
- Snapchat: Message content is not shown in notifications, so no Magic Cue suggestions show
- Telegram/Instagram Messenger: No Magic Cue suggestions in gboard (Autofill is disabled)
Supported devices: Pixel 10 and newer, excluding A-series.

Take a Message
Take a Message was initially launched in 2025. With this update:
- Take a Message expands to more Pixels. Three major functions will be available:
- Creates a full transcript of voice messages from missed or declined calls.
- After the call, AI-generated Next steps. (English only.)
- Voice recording.
- Custom Greetings - You can record your own personalized audio messages and switch between standard greeting and custom greeting.
Take a Message - Phone dialer > Settings > Take a Message > Toggle On
Custom Greeting - Phone dialer > Settings > Take a Message > Manage greetings
Supported devices: Pixel 6 and newer for all expansion countries except IN (Pixel 10 and newer only).

Emergency Detection and Emergency Sharing integration
Enables users to also notify their emergency contacts when an emergency is detected by Fall Detection and Loss of Pulse Detection. (Note, Car Crash Detection already supports users notifying emergency contacts.) Emergency detections can also simultaneously call emergency services and also notify emergency contacts if a user doesn't respond to the countdown after a hard fall, loss of pulse, or severe crash is detected. This is an upgrade to the existing Fall Detection, Loss of Pulse Detection features allowing the feature to also notify the user's emergency contacts on their behalf
Users can optionally turn on notifying emergency contacts in each of the emergency detections in settings.

- Fall Detection: Pixel Watch 1 and newer.
- Loss of Pulse Detection: Pixel Watch 3 and newer.
- Car Crash Detection: Pixel Watch 2 and newer and/or Pixel 3/3XL or newer.
