Verizon Family - Install the Companion App

Here's how to install the Verizon Family companion app using your Dependent's device.
To perform the steps below, you need to:
  • ensure the device was added to a profile from the Verizon Family app.
  • ensure no parental control apps that prevent permission changes or app installation.
  • verify the Dependent's device is running Android 6.0 or higher or iOS 15 or higher.
  • have access to both the Guardian and Dependent devices.
  • ensure the Verizon Family app is installed on the Guardian's device.
  • sign in to the app using a My Verizon user ID or mobile number that has Account Owner or Manager access privileges.
  • ensure content filtering is added to the Dependent's account.
  • be signed in to a Google account to download the app.
  • ensure the Dependent's smartphone is connected to cellular data.
  1. From the appropriate Dependent's device, open the Google Play™ Store or Apple App Store and search for the Verizon Family Companion app.
  2. From the Play Store or App Store, tap
    Install

    Allow several minutes for the download and install process to complete.
  3. To pair with the Guardian device, do the following on the Dependent's device:
    1. Tap
      OPEN

    2. From the 'Welcome' screen, tap
      Get started
      .
    3. Confirm you are using the correct device by entering the 6 digit code sent to you, or utilize auto-fill.
    4. Tap

    5. Tap
      Next
       to go through the tutorial or
      Skip
       to go to pairing.
    6. Tap
      Agree
       to allow permissions to collect device data.
    7. Tap
      Continue
       to set up VPN for sharing your online activity, then tap
      Allow
       for the OS permissions.
    8. Tap
      Continue
       to allow notifications, then tap
      Allow
       for the OS permissions.
    9. Tap
      Continue
       to share your contacts on your device, then tap
      Allow
       for the OS permissions.
    10. Tap
      Continue
       to share your device location, then tap
      Allow While Using App
       for the OS permissions.
    11. Tap
      Continue
       to adjust your location settings, then tap
      Always
       to set your location access.
    12. Tap the
      Back icon
       to return to Verizon Family Companion app.
    13. Tap
      Continue
       to enable Motion Tracking, then tap
      Allow
       for the OS permissions.
    14. From the 'You have completed pairing" window, tap
      Next
