Verizon Family
Enable Restrictions After a 911 Call

Learn how to quickly turn your parental controls back on if they were automatically paused after an emergency call.

When 911 is Called

  • All existing usage restrictions on the line are disabled for personal safety.
  • The Guardian is notified by SMS message and a banner of the Guardian app that usage restrictions have been disabled by a 911 call.
  • The restrictions will automatically be re-enabled 4 hours after the line last dialed 911.
  • The Guardian has the option to manually re-enable the restrictions sooner than 4 hours. See Re-enable Restrictions section below.

Re-enable Restrictions

Ensure the child's device is powered off prior to adding or removing blocks, restrictions, limits, etc.
  1. The Home screen displays a banner notification that restrictions have been disabled by a 911 call.
  2. To re-enable restrictions immediately, tap
    Enable restrictions
    .
If the restrictions are not manually re-enabled, they will be re-enabled automatically after 4 hours has elapsed from the time the line last dialed a 911 call.
