Apple iPhone - How to Unlock Your iPhone While Wearing a Mask With Apple Watch

View this info for help with unlocking your Apple iPhone when a mask prevents Face ID from recognizing your face.
  • These steps apply to:
    • Apple® iPhone® on iOS 14.5 or newer.
      Apple iPhone 6, and 6+ are not supported.
    • Apple® Watch® on watchOS 7.4 or newer.
      Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 are not supported.
  • These steps require you to have your Apple Watch nearby, on your wrist, unlocked, and protected by a passcode.
  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Tap
    Face ID & Passcode
     then enter your passcode.
  3. Tap the
    Apple Watch switch
     switch to turn on.
