Enable / Disable SIM Protection and Number LockIf you want to ensure no one can change your device or port your number to another carrier without your knowledge, use the My Verizon app to set up these protections for your line.
Before you begin
SIM Protection protects all or selected mobile numbers from unauthorized SIM or device changes (e.g., device upgrade, SIM card swap, etc.).
After disabling, SIM Protection, SIM Changes, and upgrade orders remain blocked for 15 minutes.
Number Lock protects your mobile number from an unauthorized transfer.
A Number Transfer Pin (NTP) is a temporary PIN you provide to other carriers if porting numbers.
Steps
- Open theMy Verizon app.
- Tap theMe tab.
- TapEdit profile and settings.
- Do the following:
- To enable / disable SIM Protection:
- Scroll to the Security section then tapSIM Protection.
- Tap theswitchto the right of the applicable number(s) to turn on or off.Protected MDNs are blocked from all transactions requiring a new SIM (SIM Swaps, Upgrades, BYOD, etc.).When disabling SIM Protection, there may be an additional delay period before transactions can be performed.
- ClickConfirm.
- To enable / disable Number Lock:
- Scroll to the Security section then tapNumber Lock.
- Tap theswitchto the right of the applicable number(s) to turn on or off.Mobile numbers with Number Lock enabled can't generate a Number Transfer PIN.Number Lock must be turned off to successfully port out.
