Steps to Create a Wired D-Link DI-604 Home Network in Windows XP

  1. Enter a description for the computer you are connecting to the network in the Computer description field. It should be a description that differentiates it from the other computers that will be on the network (For example, office desktop).

  1. Enter a name for this computer in the Computer name field. The name cannot contain any spaces or special characters.

    • Note: Because this is the name that will display in My Network Places to identify this computer, you may want to give it a descriptive name like "office_desktop" or "Michelles_laptop."
