Before you begin
iPad Pro / Air (2024) and newer devices don't have an option for a physical SIM card and can only be activated with an eSIM.
iPad Pro (2021) and newer:
- ships without a physical SIM card. If a physical SIM card is preferred, ensure a 5G SIM card is inserted after the eSIM profile is activated.
- only uses one active SIM profile at a time and aren't Dual SIM Dual Standby compatible.
- purchased outside of Verizon follow the steps to add a cellular plan with an eSIM.
Steps
- Press and hold thePower buttonon the new iPad.
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or press theHome buttonto select a language then tap the country or region.
- Select the preferred size (e.g., Default, Medium, Large) then tapContinue.
- From the Quick Start screen, tapSet Up Without Another Device.
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network.When activating an Apple iPad Pro (2021) or newer purchased from Verizon, the device automatically downloads the eSIM profile once it has been connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Review the Data & Privacy info then tapContinue.
- From the Age Range screen, tap your age range.
- Tap a setup option then allow up to 30 minutes for the restore to complete:
- Enter your Apple ID and password then tapNext.From your new iPhone, enter the verification code sent to your registered secondary device. If you don't have an Apple ID or have forgotten your sign-in info tapForgot password or don't have an accountthen refer to Forgot Password or Apple ID, Create an Apple ID or tapSet Up Later in Settings.
- Review the Terms and Conditions then tapAgreethen follow the onscreen prompts (i.e., Update Your iPad Automatically, Location Services, etc.) to customize additional features.
- TapGet Startedto begin using your iPad.
