 Do I need to install microfilters with the Verizon 9100 router? Yes, you must install a microfilter for each telephone, answering machine, fax machine, or other telephone devices connected to the phone line that provides your Verizon Internet signal. If microfilters aren't installed, telephone voice quality and your router's performance may be degraded.

Common devices that need filters:
  • Regular phones
  • Cordless phones
  • Caller ID units
  • Answering machines
  • Fax machines
  • Dial-up modems
  • Satellite TV dialers
  • Meter readers. Check with your gas and electric company.
  • Monitored security systems that use the phone line (check with your security company to determine if this is necessary)
