A line of service connects your device to the Verizon mobile network. Every mobile device* (phone, laptop, tablet, smartwatch) must have its own dedicated line of service.
Each line:
*Exception: Connected devices sharing a Shared Data Plan or using Number Share. Learn more about Number Share - Mobile.
There's no "add a line" charge. Your cost per line includes:
After you add a device to your cart online and sign in to My Verizon, you'll see your plan options and cost.
*Note: If you have a shared data plan, connected devices for which you've added a line can share your monthly data for a $10/month line access fee. If the device needs more data or its own mobile number, you can add a current monthly plan for that device. (Shared data plans are no longer available to add to your account.)
You don't need to add a line for a connected device if:
If you can't do one of the above, you need to add a line of service and current connected device plan so your device can access the Verizon mobile network.
When you choose a new mobile phone on Verizon.com, we ask you which line the new device is for. Choose Add new line. Then choose either:

To bring your own device (BYOD) to a new or existing Verizon mobile account, start at our BYOD page. Follow the prompts to choose an existing line or add a new line and pick a plan and mobile number.
Note: Account Owners and Account Managers can add a line. Account Members need Account Owner permission to do so.
