Consumer data uploads soar nearly 130% during the Solar Eclipse

As the Solar Eclipse captivated the nation, and millions of eyes turned skyward, Verizon data usage soared as consumers shared in a moment of wonder and awe, live-streaming coverage and sharing photos across social media ^¹ .

2024 Solar Eclipse - How Consumers Connected

• Consumers uploaded nearly 130% more during the Solar Eclipse than an average day ^²  as they engaged in activities like sharing photos and videos on social media ^¹ .
• There was a nearly 17% increase in Verizon devices along the path of totality, as consumers flocked to cities like Dallas, Indianapolis and Cleveland.
• Of cities located along the path of totality, East Barre, VT, had the biggest increase in traffic on Verizon’s network. East Barre also experienced the highest increase in uploads, with a nearly  33.7k% increase compared to an average day ^² . Imagine all of those pictures and videos!
• North Jackson, OH, is the city that had the biggest influx of devices on Verizon’s network, with an increase of 27,000 devices over an average day ^² .
