Crisis Ready: Verizon Frontline delivers critical support during public safety’s most challenging 2025 responses
Throughout 2025, public safety agencies across the nation battled continuous and significant challenges, from severe weather events like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires to devastating tornadoes and more.
In every one of these scenarios, one thing remained constant: first responders’ need for reliable communications support during crisis-response operations. Once again this year, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team stepped up to help ensure that public safety agencies had access to the mission-critical communications capabilities they needed when it mattered most.
Composed primarily of former public safety and military personnel, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team is dedicated to supporting first responders during emergencies at no cost to the agencies they assist. Their mission is to provide the vital network and technology first responders need to stay connected and coordinate efforts in the most challenging environments and situations.
Here is a look at the team’s impact in 2025:
- 700 Agencies Supported: The team assisted nearly 700 public safety agencies across almost every state.
- 1,500 Requests Fulfilled: They responded to nearly 1,500 requests for communications support.
- 9,000 Solutions Provided: Public safety agencies were equipped with nearly 9,000 Verizon Frontline devices and solutions, including repeaters, mobile hotspots, routers, smart devices, and a variety of deployable satellite technologies such as Satellite Picocells on Trailers (SPOTs) and Rapid Response Connectivity Units (RRCUs).
Wildfire Response Support
Wildfire response operations alone required an enormous effort, with the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team providing nearly 1,700 Verizon Frontline solutions to wildland firefighters on the front lines of fire mitigation efforts. This essential support helped enable mission-critical voice and data services during operations conducted across 16 different states.
Beyond Natural Disasters: Expanding the Mission
The team's response efforts this year extended beyond weather events, demonstrating their versatility and dedication to public safety security and readiness:
- Ransomware Incidents: Providing crucial connectivity to public sector agencies impacted by debilitating ransomware attacks.
- Training and Readiness: Participating in more than 80 disaster-response training exercises across 22 states, ensuring federal, state, and local agencies are prepared for future events.
Verizon Frontline is the advanced network and technology built specifically for first responders—developed over three decades of partnership with public safety officials and agencies on the front lines—to meet their unique and evolving needs.
