Bringing the magic to Missouri: How Verizon helped kick off the holidays in St. Louis with the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree
St. Louis was buzzing with holiday spirit recently as Verizon, in partnership with the Society of American Foresters, brought the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree to the city’s iconic Union Station during the kickoff of their holiday extravaganza.
With an estimated 3,000+ people joining the celebration, the event was a true testament to the spirit of community and connection that makes the holidays so special.
Star Power and Community Heart
The guest of honor, a 53-foot Red Fir nicknamed "Silver Belle," may have stolen the show, but St. Louis' favorite Brayden Schenn, Captain of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues, brought the star power!
Schenn spent the afternoon meeting fans, signing autographs, and sharing his love for the St. Louis community. During the event, he spoke about the importance of teamwork—not just on the ice, but also in supporting the local small businesses that make the city great.
Bringing Together the St. Louis Community
The true cornerstone of this celebration was empowering the local community by shining a spotlight on local small business owners. These local shops, powered by Verizon Business, had the chance to showcase their amazing products to thousands of enthusiastic holiday shoppers.
The event also offered a glimpse into the technology that helps keep public safety agencies connected as Verizon showcased some of its Verizon Frontline assets, the specialized communications equipment first responders use in critical situations. This display was of special interest to Brayden Schenn, whose father was a firefighter.
The Verizon Frontline showcase served as an important thread, as it was that same team that helped ensure the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree stayed connected and on schedule during its long journey across the country.
This was just one of many moments across the U.S. where Verizon shows up for the communities in which we live, work and play. And it was a moment that the residents of St. Louis won’t soon forget.
