Letter from Dan Schulman

I’m pleased to share that Alfonso Villanueva will join Verizon as Executive Vice President, Chief Transformation Officer, effective November 20, 2025.

Alfonso brings over two decades of global leadership experience in strategy, corporate development, transformation, data science and innovation across some of the world’s leading technology and financial services organizations.

Most recently, Alfonso led Albar Court Ventures, a firm focused on strategic investments in technology. Previously, I had the pleasure of working with Alfonso during his time at PayPal, where he served as EVP of Strategy, Corporate Development and Data Science. He helped shape PayPal’s strategic roadmap, led its M&A activities, expanded its data and analytics capabilities and oversaw venture investments. Alfonso also led the Office of the CEO, driving key initiatives that accelerated the company’s growth and transformation. He is a strong leader with deep expertise and an extraordinary colleague.

Earlier in his career, Alfonso was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, leading its Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) practice across Asia Pacific and serving as a highly valued advisor to some of the world's largest companies. He was also the Chief Innovation Officer at SingTel, where he helped launch the company’s digital division and venture fund.

Alfonso serves on the Board of Directors of Bankinter, one of Spain’s leading banks, and Europ Assistance, a multinational insurance company, where he chairs the Audit Committee. He holds an MBA with Highest Distinction from London Business School and an MA with Highest Distinction from Northeastern University.

Building our Transformation Organization

As we change the way we work and build a customer-first organization, we  know that AI, automation and digital acceleration will play a critical role in helping us strengthen our market leadership and our opportunities for growth.

That’s why we are aligning key functions under Alfonso’s leadership to focus on developing our digital infrastructure and expanding the capabilities we need to delight customers and lead the industry. Our new Transformation Organization will be responsible for driving the change we need to execute against our strategic priorities, and scaling the innovation, technologies and investments that will define the next chapter of Verizon’s growth.

The following leaders and their teams will join the Transformation Organization and report to Alfonso:

  • Chris Bartlett and the Strategy, Corporate Development and Partnerships team

  • Mano Mannoochahr and the Data, Analytics and AI team

  • Jim Gowen and the Supply Chain, Sourcing and Sustainability team

Alfonso and his team will help us see beyond where we are today and build the next wave of opportunities into lasting competitive advantage. This is about taking bold action—transforming our company to focus on creating value for our customers and shareholders, maximizing the impact of our resources and capabilities, and leading our industry forward.

Please join me in welcoming Alfonso to Verizon.
