How to Find Small Businesses Using the SBS

This guide will walk you through searching the database for certified firms:

Step 1: Access the Search Website Navigate directly to the Small Business Search portal: https://search.certifications.sba.gov/.
Step 2: Define Your Search Criteria To find businesses that meet your needs, enter criteria in the search boxes provided. You can search by one or more of the following:
Certification Program: Select a specific designation from the dropdown menu, such as 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB (Woman-Owned), or SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned).
- Keywords: Enter terms describing the products, services, or industry, such as "cybersecurity," "logistics," or "construction."
NAICS/PSC Code: Enter a specific NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) or PSC (Product and Service Code) if you know the exact code for the work.
Location: Narrow your search by State or ZIP Code to find local vendors.
Step 3: Run the Search After entering your criteria, click the "Search" button (usually located at the bottom of the form).
Step 4: Review and Analyze Results The system will generate a list of all small businesses matching your filters.
View Details: Click on a business's name to view their complete business profile, including contact information, capability statements, and all active certifications.
- Refine: If the results are too broad, return to the search filters to add more specific keywords or codes.
Caveat: If a business opts to hide their profile during their SAM.gov registration, they will not appear in the results of this public search tool.
