Every December, something pretty special happens. Kids — and plenty of parents — pause for a moment to ask an important question: Where is Santa right now?

As Editor-in-Chief of “Parenting in a Digital World” and as a parent myself, I’ve always loved that this tradition blends imagination, curiosity, and connection in a way that feels genuinely joyful. It’s playful, lighthearted, and creates a shared family moment that many of us remember from our own childhoods. It’s also a great reminder that technology, when used thoughtfully, can help bring people together.

That’s why I’m excited to share a fun holiday tradition Verizon has proudly supported for more than two decades: NORAD Tracks Santa.

For the 23rd consecutive year, Verizon is serving as the connectivity partner for NORAD Tracks Santa, helping power the technology that allows families around the world to follow Santa’s journey on Christmas Eve.

Behind the scenes, this tradition is supported by dependable connectivity and careful coordination. Verizon Frontline provides critical infrastructure to support the NORAD Operations Center at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado — including 5G connectivity, redundant Wi-Fi and satellite solutions, and high-speed routers designed to keep everything running smoothly throughout the night.

But what truly brings NORAD Tracks Santa to life isn’t just the technology — it’s the people.

Each Christmas Eve, hundreds of volunteers, including Verizon team members, help answer calls from families eager for updates. Verizon Business supports the Interactive Voice Response system that helps manage the volume with more than 130,000 calls expected, while volunteers handle some of the most pressing questions of the season:

  • “Has Santa left the North Pole yet?”
  • “Where is he right now?”
  •  “What kind of cookies should I leave out?”

It’s simple, joyful, and refreshingly human.

As parents, we spend a lot of time thinking about how technology fits into our children’s lives. Experiences like NORAD Tracks Santa show how digital tools can spark curiosity, encourage shared moments, and create positive memories — without pressure or complexity.

If you’d like to join in this holiday tradition with your family, there are a few easy ways to participate on Christmas Eve:

  • Call the Hotline: Dial 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) starting December 24
  • Visit the HQ: Explore games, videos, and live tracking at noradsanta.org
  • Go Mobile: Download the NORAD Tracks Santa app on Apple or Google Play

From all of us at Verizon, happy tracking — and happy holidays.
