2020 has been an unprecedented year but it has not wavered our support for veterans as a military-friendly company. This November, we’re going virtual by giving our #Thanks2Vets and honoring veterans throughout Veterans Month.

In the past year, we’ve earned numerous accolades recognizing our commitment to the military community, including:

  • #1 Military Friendly Company (2020)
  • #7 Military Spouse Friendly Employer (2020)
  • #10 Military Friendly Employer (2020)
  • #2 Military Friendly Brand (2020)

Here are our plans to celebrate our military during Veterans Month:

Wounded Warrior Project Virtual Walk

Previously, V Teamers have gathered across the country to walk for our military community. This year, we’re proud to take our Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) walks virtual while adhering to safety precautions in light of the global pandemic.

From November 2 to 13, V Teamers are invited to participate in a virtual WWP walk to honor our veterans.

Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

This month, all V Teamers have the opportunity to participate in a range of volunteer activities centered on the military community, including, writing a letter to senior veterans, sending thank you messages to veterans, making no-sew blankets for veterans, and more.

V Teamers can log into our volunteer portal to sign up for these and more opportunities to support veterans.

Military apparel

As a continuation of our Military Appreciation Month initiatives, we’re excited to continue our partnership with veteran-owned and operated organizations like Call For Fire to give back in support of military causes.

For the month of November, we’ve expanded our military apparel collection to include new additions, including a vest, v-neck tee, long sleeve tee, anorak rain jacket, and a beanie. Every purchase will also include an exclusive Wounded Warrior Project/Verizon pin.

A portion of all proceeds will be donated to veteran nonprofit organizations Mission 22, FourBlock, Semper K9, Wounded Warrior Project, and Burnpits360. Show your support this Veterans Day by purchasing these items from Call for Fire for yourself or loved ones.

Virtual Fleet Week

Verizon will be celebrating with the World of Warships Virtual Fleet Week, including a ship parade, air show, keynote by Vice Admiral Peter Daly, WWII testimonials, and more.

As part of the event, Verizon will also feature brief programming surrounding the intersection of gaming and mental health. Experts and Verizon veteran employees will also make an appearance, offering inspirational stories, insights, and resources for veterans.

This virtual event will be hosted by The History Channel and will be streamed on World of Warships Twitch and YouTube channels November 9 at 3 p.m. CST. Learn more about Verizon and World of Warships.
