Guided by our Credo and rigorous stakeholder engagement
To establish our corporate responsibility priorities we started with our Credo, the set of principles that defines who we are and what our customers value. One of these principles is: We focus outward on the customer, not inward. With this in mind, in 2017 we partnered with Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), the global sustainability nonprofit, to engage our stakeholders in the process of identifying and prioritizing those environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues most relevant to our business. We interviewed customers, investors, employees, nonprofits and policymakers. We also considered how ESG issues impacted Verizon’s operations, technology and innovation. The findings, depicted in the graphic, inform our strategy and reporting.
