Adds 250 New Jobs to Local Economy
PHOENIX, Ariz., May 24, 1999 - MCI WorldCom today announced
that it is expanding its local presence in Phoenix with the addition of
250 jobs at its Mass Markets Centers located in Phoenix and Chandler.
The Phoenix Center currently employs 900 sales representatives and
will house approximately 950 employees by the end of the year, while
the Chandler Center currently employs more than 450 sales and service
representatives which should increase to approximately 650
employees.
"MCI WorldCom has had a strong presence in the Phoenix area
since 1984, and we're pleased to build on that commitment by adding
250 additional sales jobs to our centers," said Robert Zimmerman,
the Phoenix Center's director. "MCI WorldCom is dedicated to
maintaining the highest sales and service standards for our customers
and this expansion will help us do just that."
The Phoenix center handles sales for MCI WorldCom's Mass Markets
division which provides domestic and international telecommunications
services to residential and small business customers. The center in
Chandler provides sales, customer service and technical support to MCI
WorldCom's Business Markets divisions. Both centers are seeking to
fill jobs that are a combination of part-time and full-time sales
positions. MCI WorldCom is adding these new jobs as a result of
increased demand for its portfolio of business, consumer and small
business products, including MCI One Savings and MCI One Savings for
Small Business.

The Phoenix Center occupies 64,000 square feet of office space in
the Colonnade Mall on Camelback Road in Phoenix. The Chandler Center
occupies 75,000 square feet of office space and is located conveniently
at the corner of Dobson Road and Chandler Boulevard in Chandler.
