It’s time to Seize the Hour for MLK Day.

On Monday, January 17 we celebrate Martin Luther King Day. The only U.S. federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. As V Teamers, we believe in supporting neighbors, building equitable communities and moving the world forward for all.

As an American civil rights activist, Dr. King fought for equality for all. He wrote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. As we celebrate his legacy, we encourage V Teamers to participate in an act of service. We are calling V Teamers to #SeizeTheHour on January 17 and volunteer as a celebration of his life, legacy and a step towards racial equality.

To make it simpler than ever to Seize the Hour in 2022 and find events that drive impact in your local communities, we have redesigned the Citizen Verizon Volunteers portal. You can build your profile to serve up events based on your interests, choose from our menu of curated team experiences, or select from one of our hyper-local 350+ Volunteer Champion events created exclusively for V Teamers. You can even log offline volunteer hours on qualifying, pillar-aligned projects outside the portal. Remember, any effort big or small counts toward our common goal.

Featured Events

The Verizon BOLD ERG is sponsoring two featured events. The first is a walk and litter pickup event to celebrate MLK Day of service throughout the month of January. The second is a virtual walk and reading series in which volunteers will record themselves reading chapters of popular novels to bring entertainment to senior citizens.

Additional MLK Day of Service events include:

No matter how you choose to spend the day, we encourage you to take time to learn, share and grow. Visit Citizen Verizon Volunteers today to get started and see how easy it is to help us move the world forward for all, one hour at a time.
