Angel MedFlight provides a service that you may not know exists until the day you need it. By transporting individuals with medical needs to hospitals and treatment centers where they can receive the best care possible, Angel MedFlight serves patients and families in their times of greatest need.

Producer’s Note

We caught up with a few of the V Teamers who help keep Angel MedFlight connected, an air ambulance company based in Scottsdale, Arizona. April Garcia-Ryan, a Verizon Business Sales Senior Manager, told us, “you need that constant and reliable communication when you’re transporting a child or a parent. They have people’s lives in their hands.”

Before Angel Medflight chose Verizon as their wireless network provider, they did their homework, testing devices on multiple networks. “Communications is everything for our business,” said Jennifer Peterson, a lead Flight Coordinator for Angel Medflight. Their real-world testing convinced them that Verizon had the most reliable service available. Now, along with wireline and MPLS network services in their Arizona office, we’re connecting their iPads, even at 40,000 ft.

Paul Green, Chief Development Officer for Angel MedFlight, shared that, “it’s the employees that we work with at Verizon that make this partnership what it is.” Paul has a vision for where  Angel Medflight is headed and how Verizon will be a part of that future. Paul is enthusiastic about the potential of 5G to provide faster data transfers that will cut down the amount of time it takes for flight clinicians to be prepared to fly. He also believes that 5G could enable in-flight video communications with medical professionals on the ground.

The day after we visited the Angel MedFlight offices, it was 105ºF in downtown Phoenix. We conducted some speed tests on the Verizon UWB 5G network outside the Phoenix Convention Center. We achieved speeds greater than 1.6Gbps and the future didn’t feel so far away.
