Verizon Frontline helps Northern Michigan community weather the storm

At a glance

When a severe winter storm blanketed Roscommon County, Michigan, it left local communities grappling with power outages and communication disruptions. In response, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team quickly deployed to the area to support local emergency management efforts, ensuring that first responders could maintain critical connectivity.

The team delivered a comprehensive support package including phones, jetpacks, routers, and charging stations to fire and EMS agencies in the county, and five different county Emergency Operations Centers. These essential tools helped area public safety leaders facilitate vital relief efforts. The solutions also gave citizens of Roscommon County connectivity in warming centers.

“The support of the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team was invaluable,” said Vanessa Varner, Director, Roscommon County Emergency Management. “Without the solutions and reliable connectivity they provided, coordinating efforts across our county would have been exponentially more difficult. It allowed us to keep the community safe and connected during a challenging time.”

“When severe storms hit, cutting off power and communications, our priority is always to quickly restore the connections first responders and community leaders rely on,” said Danielle Warner, Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team senior manager. “Deploying these solutions across the EOCs in Roscommon County was critical to ensuring they had the tools they needed.”

Composed primarily of former public safety and military personnel, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team is dedicated to supporting first responders during emergencies at no cost to the agencies they assist. Their mission is to provide the vital network and technology first responders need to stay connected and coordinate efforts in the most challenging environments and situations.
