Alfonso Villanueva oversees Verizon’s strategy, corporate development, data analytics and AI, procurement, supply chain, and sustainability—leading the company’s integrated transformation agenda to drive both growth and operational efficiency.

The Transformation Organization is responsible for scaling the innovations, technologies and investments that are vital to Verizon’s next era of value creation. This includes building an AI-first digital infrastructure, modernizing procurement and supply chain capabilities, and orchestrating cross-functional execution so that Verizon can accelerate decision-making, eliminate operational waste, strengthen resilience, and expand the company’s capacity to delight customers and lead the industry.

Alfonso brings over two decades of global leadership experience in strategy, corporate development, transformation, data science and innovation across some of the world’s leading technology and financial services organizations. He has a deep track record designing and executing enterprise-wide transformation engines that unify growth strategy with operational excellence—ensuring strategic ambitions are matched with operational capacity, technology enablement and disciplined execution.

Before joining Verizon in November 2025, Alfonso led Albar Court Ventures, a firm focused on strategic investments in technology. Previously, he was EVP of Strategy, Corporate Development and Data Science at PayPal. Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, leading its Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) practice across Asia Pacific, as well as the Chief Innovation Officer at SingTel.

Corporate and charitable leadership

Alfonso serves on the Board of Directors of Bankinter, one of Spain’s leading banks, and Europ Assistance, a multinational insurance company, where he chairs the Audit Committee.
