Fueling the fan experience with once-in-a-lifetime access and record-breaking 5G performance

As the Official 5G Network of the NFL, Verizon once again showed customers that no one gets them closer to the biggest moments in sports. The “Verizon Ultimate Super Bowl LX Experience” became a reality for a group of lucky Verizon customers who won this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the first ones on the field on game day, have a catch with NFL legends, and give out Championship gear to the Seattle Seahawks on the field after their historic victory.

The Bay Area was electric for Super Bowl weekend, and Verizon customers were closer to all of the action than anyone else. These lucky winners were flown to Santa Clara for an all-expenses-paid VIP experience that redefined fan access.

Winners enjoyed behind-the-scenes moments including:

  • VIP On-Field Access: Winners stood a few feet away from the league’s biggest stars during warm-ups, embracing the pre-game energy.
  • Sideline Skills: Some lucky fans had the chance to throw passes on the sidelines with NFL legend Michael Strahan before kickoff, experiencing the field from a player’s perspective.
  • Field Access for the Opening Ceremony: Winners were on the field alongside generations of Super Bowl MVPs for the opening ceremony performance from punk rock icons Green Day.
  • The Championship Moment: In one of the most exclusive opportunities in sports, winners participated in the post-game celebration, helping hand out official Championship gear to the Seattle Seahawks, surrounded by falling confetti.

Verizon Employees Get In on the Action

Verizon also hosted a national competition for its retail employees to win tickets to Super Bowl LX. Demairis Hill, who works at a Verizon store in Anderson, South Carolina, was one of the lucky winners.

Hill brought his father as his guest and was thrilled to have the opportunity for family bonding at one of the biggest sporting events in the world, saying, "I’m still trying to wrap my head around it! I feel incredibly excited, grateful, and a little in disbelief. The Super Bowl is something I’ve watched for years, so the idea that I get to experience it in person is amazing.”

Verizon Powered a Seamless Super Bowl Experience

Verizon customers and employees were able to stay connected and share all the greatest moments from the Ultimate Super Bowl Experience thanks to the ultimate network. After years of preparation and nearly 200 individual network projects across the Bay Area, Verizon successfully powered a seamless digital experience for fans, teams, and first responders throughout Super Bowl LX.

On Game Day, Verizon customers in and around the stadium proved that their thirst for sharing every touchdown, halftime highlight, and cinematic 4K moment is stronger than ever.

  • Total Data Usage: Verizon customers used 40.32 TB of data in and around Levi’s® Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday, a 6% increase over last year. Compared to the last time the Super Bowl was hosted at Levi’s Stadium during Super Bowl 50, usage increased by more than 5X (using 7TB at SB50).  Approximately 59.6% of the 70,823 attendees at Levi’s Stadium were on the Verizon network.
  • City-Wide Connectivity: Across the San Francisco market, including "Hospitality Hubs" like the Moscone Center and the Palace of Fine Arts, customers consumed a total of 39.788 TB.
  • Peak Performance: At the height of the action—during the kickoff and the halftime show—Verizon’s network handled massive spikes with ease. Fans experienced median download speeds of 2.16 Gbps.  Fans also experienced median upload speeds of 461Mbps.

Verizon remains committed to the Bay Area, leaving behind a permanent 5G legacy that will benefit residents and businesses for years to come.
