DOT Taps MCI WorldCom For Telecom Services

McLean, Va, April 19, 1999 -- MCI WorldCom Government Markets
announced today it was selected to provide a full range of
telecommunication services to the U.S. Department of Transportation
(DOT) under the FTS2001 program. Under this multi-year agreement, which
is potentially worth more than $160 million, MCI WorldCom will provide
voice, data and Internet services to the Department of Transportation
and its ten administrative organizations, which include the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Today's announcement is another in a string victories for MCI
WorldCom Government Markets since receiving one of the two FTS2001
awards earlier this year. To date, six of the top ten users of
telecommunications services under the old FTS2000 program have made
their selections under the FTS2001 umbrella. With DOT's selection,
MCI WorldCom Government Markets has now snared four of those six. MCI
WorldCom Government Markets has already added the Department of Defense
for voice communications, the Department of Agriculture and the
Department of Interior to its stable of Federal agencies under the
program.

"We've built a strong track record of providing highly
reliable mission critical systems with the FAA, and DOT recognizes
that," said MCI WorldCom Government Markets executive director for
FAA programs Mike Serbousek. "Through our relationship with the
FAA, DOT has seen first hand our ability to provide seamless
transitions and a commitment to a very high level of customer
service."

"DOT's selection of MCI WorldCom for all services confirms
the strength of our FTS package and demonstrates our commitment to
total customer service," said MCI WorldCom Government Markets
executive director for FTS programs Rick Slifer. "At this point in
the selection process, we're very confident that MCI WorldCom will
exceed the FTS2001 program minimum revenues of $750 million."

Under FTS2001, individual user agencies, such as USDA, are allowed
to choose from two awarded companies to provide telecommunications
services. In January of 1999, MCI WorldCom captured the second of the
two awards, guaranteeing minimum revenue of $750 million.
