WorldCom Canada Unveils Event Webcasting Solution

New Service Eliminates Time and Distance Barriers,
Makes Meetings More Effective and Personal While Reducing Expenses

TORONTO, March 19, 2003 - Businesses that want to extend the reach of their meetings across time and geographic boundaries can now do so with WorldCom's newest communications solution, WorldCom Event Webcasting. This new service combines live and archived video with multimedia content and interactive capabilities, enabling companies to stream traditional audio and video conferences over the Internet with added functionality.

"Canadian business leaders know that reliable and cost-effective communications are a critical part of achieving business success," said Sam Mazzotta, WorldCom Canada's director of products. "They recognize that in today's global marketplace, meetings involving multiple people and multiple locations should be as simple, and as personal, as meetings that occur in person. WorldCom's new Event Webcasting, which requires no special equipment or advanced technologies, brings businesses together by removing limitations associated with location. As such, it offers Canadian businesses an affordable, multimedia communication solution with enhanced interactive capabilities."

Carried over WorldCom's award-winning global IP network, Event Webcasting enables businesses to improve internal and external corporate communications and can be used to address a variety of business needs including marketing and customer communications; employee training and education; public relations and investor relations, E-commerce applications and new product launches.

Event Webcasting provides a one-to-many communications vehicle by broadcasting video content to a large, geographically dispersed audience over the Internet. Webcasting attendees do not need special videoconferencing equipment to participate. Anyone with Internet access, Web browser, and media player can view an Event Webcast.

Streaming media allows professionals to view video on the Web without having to wait for it to fully download onto a computer. In addition to delivering live and archived video streaming, Event Webcasting lets businesses view presentation slides and conduct Web tours. Interactive capabilities, such as question-and-answer sessions, create a rich and engaging experience for participants.

Added Mazzotta, "For Canadian businesses, these features, coupled with the potential increase in audience reach, the simplification of message delivery and the enhancement of a company's interactive capabilities along with a reduction in travel and technology costs means big benefits to the bottom line."
