WorldCom, Inc. Appoints KPMG LLP as Independent Auditors

CLINTON, Miss., May 15, 2002 – WorldCom, Inc. (NASDAQ: WCOM, MCIT), today announced that effective May 14, 2002 it engaged KPMG LLP
as the Company's independent auditors. KPMG LLP will replace Arthur Andersen LLP, the Company’s independent auditors since 1989.

The appointment of KPMG LLP was made by the WorldCom Board of Directors at the recommendation of its Audit Committee. The decision
to change auditors was not the result of any disagreement between the Company and Arthur Andersen on any matter of accounting princi
ples or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure.
