But as you could see in the picture it still has great quality and could see the whole yard. I love how you could change the doorbell ring to festive rings and gives notifications and recordings from that day without a subscription.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently switched to the Google Nest Doorbell (Gen 3, Wired), and overall, I’m very pleased with the upgrade. The video quality is super clear, and the recording reliability has been excellent—both of which are far superior to my experience with Ring.
Pros:
• Extremely clear, high-quality footage
• Very reliable motion detection and recording
• Outperforms Ring in both clarity and consistency
• Includes a wedge for angled mounting, which made positioning the camera much easier
Cons:
• Setup took longer than expected
• Existing holes from my Ring doorbell didn’t align, so I had to drill new holes into the brick
• Even after installation, navigating the app to view recordings took some extra maneuvering
• Only stores about 3 hours of footage for free—a paid subscription is needed for meaningful use
Despite the setup frustrations and limited free storage, the overall performance easily outweighs the drawbacks. It ultimately outscores Ring, and I’ll be investing in additional Nest cameras for outdoor use as well.

This actually isn't my first Nest doorbell (I purchased the 3rd gen battery-powered one prior to this!), so I was extremely happy to get this one. The battery-powered one, in my experience, dies really quickly. Perhaps it's because I live on a busier road, but I found that the battery would be depleted within a week. The wired version got rid of this issue for me, which has been a major relief. It is a bit harder to install, which can be frustrating, but it is absolutely worth it for me. The Nest app is easy to use and I found that the camera and mic quality are pretty good. I think this is a fantastic video doorbell and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for one.

The video image quality is crisp and clear, and the way it integrates with the Google Home app makes everything so easy and intuitive. The motion sensor and audio work flawlessly, there’s no lag, no guesswork, just smooth and reliable performance every time. Additionally, the installation and programming was simple.
One thing I really appreciate is how many free features Google includes with this doorbell. You don’t feel like you immediately have to sign up for a subscription to get real value out of it. And the holiday-themed ringtones? Absolutely adorable! They’re such a fun touch and really make the doorbell feel more personal and festive.
I replaced my old Ring doorbell with the Google Nest Doorbell (Wired), and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. It’s been a huge upgrade in both functionality and user experience. Highly recommend!
