  • To protect the hinge:
    • Don't open the phone farther than the hinge allows.
    • Don't store credit cards, cash, or other thin items inside the phone.
    • Close the phone before putting it in a pocket, purse, etc.
  • To protect the internal (flexible) display:
    • Don't use a screen protector. Instead, close your phone when not in use.

    • Don't submerge in water or other liquids.
When near water, consider a Bluetooth speaker to listen to music.
    • Hold the phone firmly when using gestures (twisting or chopping) to open the camera or turn flashlight on/off.
  • Cleaning:
    • To clean the display, use a pre-moistened screen wipe or lint-free cloth.
    • Don't use pressurized air dusters on the display.

  • A hardware modification is any physical change made to the device not performed by the manufacturer or an authorized agent of the manufacturer.
  • Most alterations of this type are cosmetic but involve opening the device case in a way that voids the manufacturer's original warranty and is considered physical damage.
  • Hardware modifications include, but are not limited to:
    • bezels or cases that involve opening the case and removing the original housing.
    • non-removable back case detached.
    • device screens replaced.
    • aftermarket decorations affixed permanently to the device.
If damage is found:
  • Physical damage that voids the warranty includes cracked external glass screens, broken hinges and dents from tampering, misuse or falls. For this kind of damage, Motorola can offer a like-new replacement for a fee. If you have a Moto Care Accident Protection plan, the fee is reduced to a smaller deductible. See the motorola razr repair page or Motorola repair FAQ page for more info.
  • Your razr has a remarkably flexible internal screen. With proper care this will work effortlessly. However, if something scratches, dents or otherwise damages the screen, Motorola has a special program to replace only the screen for $299. The Moto Care Accident Protection plan also reduces this with a deductible.
  • Several replacement options may be available.
