TCL SIGNA - Screen Overlay Detected

Here's what to do if you're seeing a 'Screen overlay detected' error on your SIGNA.
  • The 'Screen overlay detected' error is caused by conflict between a running app and a newly installed app requesting permission to display info on multiple screens (e.g., messengers, alerts, battery status, etc.)
  • As a security measure, apps designed for Android™ 6.x and higher ask for permission to access your phone.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Apps & notifications
    Advanced
    .
  3. Tap
    Special access
    .
  4. Tap
    Draw over other apps
    .
  5. Tap the appropriate app.
  6. Tap the
    Permit drawing over other apps switch
     to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
