Google Pixel 6a - View / Restrict Data Usage by App

Here's how to view / restrict the amount of data an app on your Pixel 6a uses.
Some apps need background data. Restricting data may cause them not to work without a Wi-Fi connection.
  1. Open the
    Settings app
    Settings icon then do any of the following:
    • For Mobile Data Usage:
      1. Navigate:
        Network & internet
        SIMs
        .
      2. Tap the SIM name (e.g., Verizon, etc.) then tap
        App data usage
        .
      3. Tap an app located below the usage graph then view the usage.
        To restrict the app from using data in the background, tap the
        Background data switch
        to turn off off switch.
      4. If presented, review the message then tap
        OK
        .
    • For Wi-Fi Data Usage:
      1. Navigate:
        Network & internet
        Internet
        .
      2. Tap
        Non-carrier data usage
        .
        May require scrolling to the bottom of the page.
      3. Tap an app located below the usage graph then view the usage.
        To restrict the app from using data in the background, tap the
        Background data switch
        to turn off off switch.
      4. If presented, review the message then tap
        OK
        .
