Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 - Activate / Set Up Device
These steps guide you through setting up and customizing your Galaxy Z Fold6 for everyday use.
Your Galaxy Z Fold6:
- will ship without a physical SIM card and is recommended to be activated with an eSIM (embedded SIM card).If activating using eSIM, a Wi-FI network is required.
- can activate cellular service using an eSIM or physical SIM.If performing first time (out-of-the-box) setup and a physical SIM card is preferred, ensure:
- you're in a Verizon coverage area.
- a 5G SIM card is inserted then select the SIM as the default cellular data number after setup is complete.To avoid potential activation / service issues, don't insert a 4G SIM card.

- If powered off, press and hold thePower button(upper-right edge) until the Samsung Galaxy screen appears then release.Galaxy Z Fold6 devices don't have a pre-installed 5G SIM card and are recommended to be activated with an eSIM (embedded SIM card) on IMEI 2.
- From the 'Welcome' screen, select the appropriate language then tapStart.
- To continue, select (check) the following then tapAgree(lower-right):Review the info before continuing.
- Terms and conditionsMust be selected to continue.
- Privacy PolicyMust be selected to continue.
- Send Diagnostic data (optional)
- Ensure the appropriate mobile number is listed then tapNext.If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off.
- To set up your device using another phone or tablet, chooseGalaxy or Android deviceoriPhone or iPadthen follow the instructions.TapSet up manuallyto set up the device without using a different device.
- Select a network then enter the password.TapSkipto add Wi-Fi networks after setup is complete.If activating using eSIM, a Wi-Fi network is required if activation fails over the cellular network.
- From the 'Copy apps & data' screen, tapNext.Ensure you have your old Android™, iPhone® or iPad® then tapNext.To skip the step, tapDon't copy.If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.
- Sign in to your existing Google™ account or create a new one.TapSkipto add your Google account after setup is complete.
- Tap the applicable switch(es) to turn on or off then tapAccept(lower-right).If necessary, swipe up to review additional services.
- Select a protection option then follow the on-screen prompts.TapSkipto add a screen lock or set up face recognition or fingerprint recognition after setup is complete.
- From the 'Meet Gemini, your personal AI assistant' screen, tapI agreeto set up the Gemini on your device.TapSkipto bypass this step.
- From the 'Go hands-free with Hey Google' screen, tapI agreeto set up the Google Assistant on your device.TapSkipto bypass this step.
- Tap the applicable switch(es) to turn the available options (e.g., Location info, Apps info) on or off then tapAccept.
- Review the info then tapAccept.TapSkipto set up Verizon Cloud after setup is complete.
- From the 'Verizon Cloud' screen, review the info, tap theNextto set up this service.
- From the 'Verizon Digital Secure' screen, review the info, tap theCheckboxto turn on or off then tapAccept.TapSkipto set up Verizon Digital Secure (through the app) after setup is complete.
- Sign into your existing account or create a new Samsung account.TapSkipto add a Samsung account after setup is complete.
- From the 'Samsung services' screen, tap the applicable box(es) to turn on or off then tapAgree.If necessary, swipe up to review additional services.
- From the 'Check your region' screen, tap the applicable option, then tapNext.
- From the 'Choose your display mode' screen, select the preferred mode (Light or Dark), then tapNext.
- From the 'Taking care of your phone' screen, read the info then tapNext.
- From the 'Setup Wizard is complete' screen, tapHome.
