TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G - Activate / Set Up Device

Here's how to quickly set up your TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G.
If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.
  1. Ensure a 5G SIM card is inserted into your TCL 50 XL before powering on.
    An eSIM (embedded SIM) can be added after setup is complete.
  2. Press and hold the
    Power button
     (right edge; below Volume buttons) until the TCL logo appears then release.
  3. Select the applicable language then tap
    GET STARTED
    .
  4. From the 'Terms and Privacy' screen, review then tap
    I AGREE
    .
  5. From the 'Phone Activation' screen, tap NEXT or tap ACTIVATE (if available).
    If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for more info).
    If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off.
  6. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, select a network and sign in then tap

     to add Wi-Fi networks after setup is complete.
  7. From the 'Copy apps & data' screen, tap
    Next
     then follow the onscreen prompts to select a transfer method.
    Tap
    Don't copy
     to transfer your apps and data later.
    Caution: If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.
  8. Sign in to your existing Google™ account or create a new one.
    Tap
    Skip
     to add your Google account after setup is complete.
    If you sign in to your Google account, review the Google Terms of Service, then tap

  9. From the 'Who will be using this device?' screen, select one of the following and then select
    Next

    • I will be using this device
    • My child will be using this device
  10. From the 'Google services' screen tap
    More

    Accept
     after reviewing all info then tap any of the optional services to turn on or off.
    By tapping 'Accept', you're also agreeing to the Google Terms of Service.
  11. From the 'Set up your fingerprint' screen, tap
    Next
     then follow the prompts.
    Tap
    Skip
     to add fingerprint recognition after setup is complete.
  12. From the 'Unlock with face' screen, tap
    Next
     to continue with setup.
    Tap
    Skip
     to add face recognition after setup is complete.
  13. From the 'Set a PIN' screen, enter a 4-6 digit PIN then tap
    Next
     to continue with setup.
    Tap
    Skip
     then
    Skip anyway
     to enable a screen lock after setup is complete.
  14. From the 'Anything else' screen, tap
    No thanks
    .
  15. From the 'Verizon Services' screen, tap any of the switches to turn on or off then tap
    Accept
    .
  16. From the 'Verizon Cloud' screen, tap
    Accept
    .
    Tap
    Skip
     to set up Verizon Cloud after setup is complete.
  17. From the 'Ready to go!' screen, tap
    GOT IT!
     to exit the device set up.
