WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Bell Atlantic today said its Personal
Infospeedsm service has been expanded to include support for
Apple's newest consumer Macintosh, the iMac. Personal Infospeed
features Infospeedsm DSL service, with Bell Atlantic.netsm Internet
access.

Infospeed DSL is Bell Atlantic's brand name for ADSL, or
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line technology, which will provide
consumers access to the Internet at speeds 11 to 126 times faster
than that afforded by a 56 kilobits per second (Kbps) modem.

The iMac has been certified as being "Infospeed DSL-ready" by
technicians at Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions. iMac users now will
have the benefit of the speed, security and network reliability of
Infospeed DSL service.

"Bell Atlantic knows iMac users are very often folks who will
welcome fast, easy access to the Internet, so we're very happy to
expand our support to include this platform," said Myles
Mendelsohn, vice president, Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions.

iMac supports DSL through the built-in Ethernet port that comes
with every machine. In addition, Bell Atlantic and Apple will be
working towards incorporating other Macintosh product lines into
the Infospeed DSL minimum computer platform specifications.

"iMac combines the excitement of the Internet and the simplicity of
the Macintosh, and DSL is an important emerging technology that
iMac was designed to take advantage of," said Phil Schiller, vice
president of Worldwide Product Marketing at Apple Computer Inc.
"Bell Atlantic's Infospeed DSL service gives iMac customers
another great way to get online quickly and easily."
