BEDMINSTER, N.J. -- Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile and
Ameritech have
signed a wireless data services intercarrier agreement, allowing the
carriers to provide Cellular Digital Packet
Data (CDPD)
services to customers in more than 30 cellular markets across the United States.

In addition, both companies have previously signed similar agreements
with other CDPD carriers, bringing the total number of markets their
customers can roam to, or "visit" to more than 70 markets in 29
states
and the District of Columbia.

With this agreement, wireless data users will be able to use CDPD to
send and receive data wirelessly regardless of their location within
Ameritech and Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile service areas. Customer
service, price plans, and billing will be administered by the
customers' home carrier, providing customers with one bill and one
point of contact.

Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile currently provides CDPD service in nine
states, including such major cities as New York City, Philadelphia,
Boston, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh.

Ameritech currently provides CDPD service in six states including such
major cities as Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Detroit, and St.
Louis.

"Our customers want and need to use wireless data services
everywhere
they currently enjoy voice service," said Mike Franklin, director
of
wireless data marketing for Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile. "With this
agreement, and with our agreements with other carriers, we have made
significant steps toward seamlessly linking our networks to look like
one from our customers' point of view."

"We need to provide the best in quality networks and services to
meet
increasing demands by our customers in the growing cellular data
industry" said Susan Major, director of wireless data and paging at
Ameritech. "Our agreement with Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile
complements
our existing comprehensive capabilities to serve our customers' data
needs whenever and wherever they need it."
