Bell Atlantic - Pennsylvania to Redeem 40-Year Debentures

NEW YORK - Bell Atlantic Corp. (NYSE:BEL) today
announced that on Oct. 26, 1998, its subsidiary Bell Atlantic-
Pennsylvania, Inc. will redeem the entire $125 million outstanding
principal amount of its 40-Year 7 1/2 Percent Debentures, due May 1, 2013.

Bell Atlantic-Pennsylvania will pay a redemption price 102.04
percent of the principal amount, together with interest accrued to the
redemption date. On and after Oct. 26, 1998, interest on these debentures
will cease to accrue.
