BALTIMORE -- Bell Atlantic today demonstrated its support for the
Maryland Science Center's educational efforts by unveiling an illustration
of the Center on the cover of its 1998-1999 Baltimore Yellow and White
Pages.

Bell Atlantic will begin delivery of nearly 2 million copies of the new
Baltimore City, East, and West editions of the Yellow and White Pages
during the next several weeks.

"Bell Atlantic's commemoration of the Center signifies a continuing
commitment to technology and consumer education," said Fran Lee,
assistant vice president of mid-Atlantic sales for Bell Atlantic Directory
Services. "This commitment has produced a variety of services in the
Baltimore-area Yellow Pages designed to help consumers, including new
features that further move the Yellow Pages into the Information Age."

The Baltimore City, East and West editions of the 1998-1999 Bell Atlantic
Yellow Pages include a new localized Internet Guide, a step-by-step primer
designed for novice online users that is bound inside the Yellow Pages.
Listings in the new Yellow Pages now feature an optional extra line for
e-mail and Web site addresses in response to the increasing use of the
Internet.

The new Yellow Pages for Baltimore feature InfoSCENE®, a visitor's
guide that showcases area entertainment, dining and attractions, including
the Maryland Science Center. The guide includes color photographs and
maps, along with a telephone number that allows consumers to access up-
to-the-minute information on menus, schedules and shows through a voice-
response service. Also included is an enhanced InfoTips® service that
enables users to obtain recorded consumer information on various topics
ranging from bicycles to tax preparation. Today's presentation took place
at the Maryland Science Center's The Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park and the
Lost World exhibit. "Although the Center has not been around as long as
our dinosaur friends, in our 22-year history here at the Inner Harbor, we
have shown people of all ages the wonder and the possibility of science,"
said Gregory Andorfer, executive director of the Maryland Science Center.

"Bell Atlantic's selection of the Center for the new directory cover is a
reminder of our dedication to Baltimore businesses, residents and visitors."
The Maryland Science Center houses Maryland's largest public planetarium
and the only IMAX theater in the state, as well as a theater and
demonstration stage. Its newest national touring exhibit features models of
more than 25 dinosaurs, including Astrodon johnstoni, recently named the
official Maryland state dinosaur. The Center, which attracts more than
500,000 visitors each year, is located at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The
130,000-square-foot Center offers a variety of educational programs and
outreach efforts, including a traveling science program and a mural project
with city schools.

The directory cover illustrator is artist Mary Lynn Blasutta of New Paltz,
N.Y. Her illustrations are featured on Bell Atlantic's 500 directories in 13
states and Washington, D.C.
