Brathwaite Named VP/GM Of NYNEX Northeast

Thea Snyder Assumes Manhattan Post

ALBANY, NY -- NYNEX announced today Lee A. Brathwaite has been named
vice president and general manager of NYNEX in the Northeast region
of New York State.

He succeeds Alethea J. Snyder who will relocate to Manhattan to
assume the post of managing director - strategic projects. Ms.
Snyder will report to Arnold J. Eckelman, executive vice president
and group executive - quality assurance and operations support.
The changes are effective immediately.

Mr. Brathwaite will be responsible for all day-to-day operations
of NYNEX in the 518/914 area code regions of Eastern New York,
north of Putnam and Rockland counties. His responsibilities include
network development and maintenance, sales, and expansion of customer
service capabilities.

Mr. Brathwaite's career began in the military after he graduated
from Syracuse University with a degree in Industrial Engineering
and Operations Research. He achieved the rank of first lieutenant
in the United States Air Force, serving as a bioenvironmental
engineer from 1982 to 1985.

He joined NYNEX in 1986 and held a variety of operations positions.
In 1990 he was appointed director of special services, with responsibility
for providing and maintaining private line services for AT&T,
MCI and Sprint. In 1992, Mr. Brathwaite joined the Manhattan
Market Area Staff as a business planner, developing and implementing
strategy. His sales career began in 1993 when he joined NYNEX
Systems Marketing (NSM) as a senior account manager responsible
for the Con Edison, AT&T, and Port Authority accounts.

He was promoted to the position of NSM branch manager for Public
Sector Accounts in 1994. There, he led the account teams responsible
for NYNEX's largest account, the City of New York, as well as
the federal government, major private hospitals, corporate security
firms and universities.

Mr. Brathwaite serves on the board of the Bedford, NY, YMCA and
is chairperson of the NYNEX Multi-Cultural Association Executive
Advisory Board. He and his wife Laura have two children, Eric,
and Christina. The family plans to relocate to the Albany area
from Westchester County, following at the end of the school year.

"I came to the Capital Region four-and-a-half years ago.
It fast became my home and will always be part of me," Snyder
said. In her new position, Snyder will be responsible for guiding
NYNEX through the many new regulatory and technological changes
in the telecommunications industry.

Snyder began her telecommunications career at Bell Labs, the research
and development arm of AT&T, in 1973. She holds a B.A. in
Mathematics from Gettysburg College, a master's degree in Computer
Science from Stevens Institute and an Executive MBA from the Columbia
School of Business.
