College Students Order From NYNEX by Internet

Nine schools taking part in program

NEW YORK--Who said ordering phone service can't be fun, fast and convenient? Nine
schools in New York and New England are taking part in a program that gives students
the option of ordering phone service through the NYNEX web site home page (http://www.ba.com/nr/pastnews.html).

Taking part are: Amherst College, Columbia University, Cornell Medical School, Massachusetts
College of Pharmacy, Newbury College, New York University, Stern College, Syracuse
University, and Yeshiva University.

"We started out with a pilot program last fall involving three schools,"
said Meleti Pouliopoulos, NYNEX staff director of consumer markets. "The site
was such a success we've expanded it to include more schools and enhanced functionality."

This week NYNEX mailed an information package explaining the Internet option to the
homes of the nine schools' incoming and returning students. The mailer includes the
web address and a paper subscription form for those who prefer U.S. mail.

The web site contains a customized order form for each college. Students type in
their name, address, desired service start date, and information about the type of
service and features they want.

Each year NYNEX processes tens of thousands of service orders from college students.
"We know there are many students who prefer doing business over the Internet,"
Pouliopoulos said. "This makes NYNEX easier to do business with and helps us
develop the Internet as a sales channel."
